Promoting Financial Literacy by Employing Tech Industry
Tehran, June. 10 (SENA) - Stock markets are important platforms to attract funds from the society and direct them to the real and productive sectors of the economy.

Tehran, June. 10 (SENA) - Stock markets are important platforms to attract funds from the society and direct them to the real and productive sectors of the economy. Despite all the capacities, only 15% of the Iranian people are familiar with the capital markets and the figure for active participants is much lower. Their participation is collective investment schemes is also relatively low. This fact points to the importance of cultural and educational programs to promote this cornerstone of the economy.

In this regard, head of International and Public Relations at SEO Yaser Fallah outlined the latest efforts by its team to elevate capital market merits. “Financial literacy a major principle of International Organization of Securities Commissions [the most prominent international capital markets standard setter] and even the United Nations has always called it crucial for countries’ advancement,” he said.

Among the activities of SEO in the past two year are Starsleague event, a real trading competition among university students; FINEX TV, the dedicated audiovisual media covering Exchange, Bank and Insurance Exhibition; conference for capital market’s 50th anniversary as well as SENA, designated news website to cover capital market breaking news and top stories. Publishing the capital market history book was also mentioned by Fallah as a big step.

Fallah went on to talk about the use of tech industry to help the society better understand the capital market and referred to the latest incorporation of finance questions in the so-called gaming app Quiz of Kings. The game will be featuring a dedicated section under financial literacy title in the near future. The game already has 11 million active users. SEO is also planning to outsource development of a specific game on mobile platforms for the capital market and is already in talks with local game developers.

Fallah also referred to IRVEX, the virtual trading platform designed for educational and training purposes, and Bourse Cup, an occasional trading competition as the first instances of competitive games to increase engagement of the general public. Both platforms attract interested parties to trade in a risk-free environment and get the chance to win and be awarded.
